This election year has taken me to places I never thought possible. A dedicated political cynic in the past has been replaced by a thoughtful, concerned, rational supporter of our democratic system which now seems under attack by the one person elected to preserve it – our President!

Not since I caucused for Gene McCarthy’s bid for the presidential nomination in 1968 have I openly supported a candidate.

Not since I wore an “I Like Ike” button in 1953 have I publicly displayed my allegiance to a candidate.

Never before have I given financial support to a candidate nor encouraged others to do so.

So, 2020 is a banner year for my political activism. I’ve done all three in an effort to ensure that Donald Trump is run out of town. We have an irrational, incompetent person in a position that shames us all for allowing it to happen. Less than 50% of our population has forced us to endure a farce that must end. There has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I pray for such a light to abate our current darkness lest it become permanent.
