Name Calling

I’ve never been a name caller. Even as a kid I was reluctant to call someone “stupid” or “jerk” or “asshole” or any other derogatory title. If the words sometimes escaped my lips, I felt bad. I understood, even then, that name calling did not solve problems. It usually just escalated bad feelings and sometimes resulted in being beaten by a bigger bully.

But as I witness the absurd climate that currently resides in Washington, I find myself, at least mentally, calling our “president” a huge lexicon of negative obscenities. It appears that the man’s primary goal, besides increasing his personal wealth, is to be remembered in the history books as the president who wasted the most time and paper writing “decrees.” He has surrounded himself by an inept cabinet whose function seems to be providing an insulating layer of distraction. He has so far totally ignored the other two branches of the government possibly to demonstrate that he alone is able to rule.

I think Trump is a dangerous man. I fear for the people of this country and the world. I think the chaos will only increase until it comes to a head and something truly terrible happens. Tyranny will never prevail. The “people” will rise up and cry “enough.”

THIS, TOO, SHALL PASS is my mantra – instead of screaming “ignorant” “stupid” “jerk” “asshole.” Name calling does no good. I wish it did. I am really annoyed at the prospect of spending my remaining years of life in such a turbulent chaos that ignores the humanity of man and the great achievement we are capable of. I would like to leave this life surrounded by peace, beauty, harmony, and love – the very antithesis of our current situation.
